The Bettencourt Family would like to remind all Range Members and their Guest to please Enter and Exit the range from the Princeton Road access driveway. The Shaffer Road access is reserved for ranch vehicles and land owners along that driveway. If you're unsure where the Princeton Road driveway is, please see the Range Directions page link at the left of this webpage.
Spent Brass (all Casings)
For many years we have not required shooters to pick up after themselves when their shooting fun is over with. We used to have a dedicated volunteer person (our own Brass Fairy) that used to come out several times a week, if not daily, to pick up the spent casings. It is with great regret that some time ago he passed away, and with him a brass litter free range.
We are once again asking that after you have visited the range, to please make every effort to pick up all your spent casings. This means all flavors. Brass, nickel, aluminum, steel etc. There is money in recycling. If you don't wish to save it, please put it in a container for someone else to reuse. Don't think of it as picking up for someone else, but picking up after yourself. Thank you!!!!
WARNING!! Wasp's On the Range
It's that time of the year for the yellow jackets to return. They are back and have built several nests throughout the facility. Please be cautious while moving tables or any other objects at the range. We try to have wasp spray available in the target supply room or entry way. If you care to try, please help yourself and spray them. Before moving any chair or table we suggest you give it a kick and be ready to run if they start to stir.
Get Trained and Practice
If you currently own or plan to purchase a firearm for personal, home, or business defense/protection, for your own safety, and the safety of all others, it is imperative that you become familiar with, and proficient in, the proper operation and safe use of the firearm(s) you select.
Whatever your reason for purchasing or owning a firearm, without the ability to properly and safely use that firearm is a recipe for disaster! Proper training and practice to hone your shooting skills, plus the knowledge of the current laws pertaining to the use of firearms in your state/county is solely your responsibility as a firearm owner.
As an association that defends the Second Amendment to the constitution, we at Safety First Shooting Association urge you to seek out proper firearms training and defensive skills workshops.

Safety First Shooting Association is a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation which operates the River Oaks Range on private property. The Association was formed to promote Firearms Training and Safety to the Community. To this end we are organized to provide training opportunities and venues to support Firearms classes, public service events, various outreach programs to the general public, and educational opportunities related to the shooting sports. While we do operate a shooting range, our purpose is to provide education and training. Membership is not required to participate in the education and training opportunities presented by this Association. As an Association, Members are encouraged to attend any or all training's they desire or have an interest in. All education and training opportunities take precedence over general range activities.
